manta ray in Hanamoenoa Bay, Tahuata

each manta ray has its own individual spot pattern

manta rays swim within our reach

The anchorage in Hanamoenoa Bay, Tahuata was one of our most favorite places. Manta rays would frequent the bay, there was a beautiful sandy beach where the kids could swim and play, and we received enough rain to fill our water tanks and do all of our laundry. During our week at Tahuata, we swam with manta rays, snorkeled along the rock walls, the kids boogie boarded at the beach, and we celebrated Colin’s 11th birthday. It amazes us at how we can be in such a remote area of the world, and we can still have a full blown birthday party! Along with all the fun, we also got many boat chores done, and since there was no shortage of rain, we got plenty of laundry washed.

a full blown birthday in the remote South Pacific ~ amazing!
